CHANGE, ADJUSTMENT, ADAPTATION
We deal with people everyday, some are easily acceptable, some are challenging.
We either adjust or adapt with people.
ADJUSTMENT
Adjustment is like tolerating people and comes with lack of understanding from our side, when we do not approve of something that is not in line with our thinking and comfort zone.
Adjustment is painful and sucks energy and joy of life.
Adjustment is like going ahead by looking behind, always lamenting about the past "glory" and ignoring the gifts of the present and unwilling to accept the present totally, meaningfully and joyfully.
Adjustment is like a square peg in a round hole.
ADAPTATION
Adaptation is about accepting the present and occurs when we have an understanding the importance and relevance of change.
Adaptation is powerful, in that one feels in charge of the situation and looks forward to it.
Adaptation is like going ahead leaving the past, being in the present and looking forward to the future, optimistically.
Adaptation is a joyful, exciting journey of newer experiences and learning and skills development.
Adaptation is like a round peg in a square hole.
CHANGE
We are all in a conveyor belt of change which never stops. At times, it moves fast, at other times slow. And yet other times it appears as if it not moving. How come?
Well, there are changes occurring all around us. We are aware and hence perceive some of these changes, while we are unaware of many other changes.
We almost assume that some thing are not changing, because we do not perceive the changes.
At those times, we experience as if there is no change. The conveyor belt just seem to stop.Or so we feel.
When we step out of the main flow of life, we experience many such anomalous experiences, which could vary from too much fast life to too slow; from stagnation to deorientation.
Self awareness is the first step towards adaptation.
Within all of us is a bio clock that indicates to us the reality of change and it's speed.
Through awareness, we are able to get in touch with this inside-out experience.
It results in alignment of the inside with the outside.
It is then that we are with the flow.
Cheers to all !!
Cheers to all !!
KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT
ReplyDeleteWe live in a world of exploding information. On everything and anything, we have information. Whether the information is authentic or not is a different story.
We have become seekers of information of all kinds. Type any word that comes to your mind and google it and you have pages and pages of information. Gathering more and more information has made people "appear" knowledgeable and up-to-date.
Are they really in depth of the knowledge? Or is it surface-skimming? For-the-moment make-do information? Most times it is.
When I sit at my desk, pounding on my keyboard writing this piece, I realize that many have stopped asking people for information. They simply google it, whether it is about a medicine, or a geographical location, or an exotically named dish.
The social context of our lives has got affected as a consequence. There were times when we were "forced" to talk to people who were knowledgeable. They gave away their wisdom and inputs in their own style - not necessarily in a neat packaged form. But along with that came the most subtle aspects of information - the context, the personal details, the opinions, the historical context, etc. - rich and richer.
We were a generation bereft of any electronic trappings and hence information had to be manually sought - running from pillar to post based on information about which source had it and which did not. Many a time, we were led to wrong sources. Information gathering, thus got too challenging. And when information came to my table after all the ordeals, it was too PRECIOUS for me to give away freely to any Tom, Dick and Harry.
We were in a society where information was POWER. In practically every scenario, people held back information as a means of power, whether at workplace, or home, or social front.
Today workplace power is not information. It is knowledge. Who has THE Information for making THE decision.
Pause - Is it authentic knowledge? Published information processed and a few interviews and we have a convincing presentation on which major decisions are taken.
Any information that lacks adequate experiential inputs is bound to suffer quality and focus.
I suspect many organizations are going haywire due to this ailment.
Strategic decisions are taken on the basis of hard facts and less on soft facts.
what could be the remedy?
Let's have your comments!!
Cheers!!
